Fiscal Sponsorship

About ASP's Fiscal Sponsorship Program

As a fiscal sponsor, in addition to receiving contributions, administrative organizing, and tax filing, ASP hopes to collaborate and share resources together. ASP's priority is to uplift community-based education about death care. We'd love to create together to share teach-ins, workshops, and/or table at your event(s).

What is the purpose of fiscal sponsorship?

A Fiscal Sponsor is a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service that acts as a guardian of grants and donations for a Project that does not have 501(c)(3) designation. A Fiscal Sponsor is necessary for one good reason: funders are often more likely to make donations to anyone with 501(c)(3) status than those without. Some foundations, and sometimes governments cannot give grants to projects without a 501(c)(3). Also, some individuals often prefer to give to 501(c)(3) organizations so they can deduct the charitable donation on their tax return.

Blossom CID

Soul Clinics

Soul Clinics

Blossom CID is a collective of queer and trans, Pasifika and Asian artists and cultural workers who aim to create accessible, thriving art spaces in the Chinatown International District for our communities to heal and grow together through joy, grief, and art!

ASP got to support in 2021-2022 with foundational goals for this project of distributing funding for the festival, finances, bookkeeping, & admin. We found so many laughs, connections, and lessons. Check out what they've been blossoming below!

Soul Clinics

Soul Clinics are Community Healthcare Pop-Ups that help with access to the COVID vaccine and medical information from trusted community providers.

The African American Health Board desires to amplify the voices in the community, build relationships that lead to greater access to culturally responsive care, and create synergy between medical and non-medical care providers to create true community-centered care.

VSED Northwest

Planning for a compassionate death that reflects one’s priorities, values, and beliefs is important. Choices are also important–and available. VSED NW aims to share information about VSED so that individuals who might not qualify for medical support in death so they can make informed choices and plans. ASP had the opportunity to work closely with and fiscally sponsor VSED NW during their founding years in 2019-2022.

CRN206

The Community Response Network 206 (CRN 206) is devoted to meeting the care needs of all members of the community, particularly those who have been harmed by and neglected by state systems. Our communities include but are not limited to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Trans people, disabled people, LGBTQIA+, immigrants and refugees, poor, formerly incarcerated, and other vulnerable people. We center our values on liberation, sovereignty, and justice for the most unprotected people. As most of the communities we represent have become accustomed to a culture of harm, it is very important to us that everything we do comes from a place of compassion. We understand that while we are often not seen this way, we are worth nurturing. We see each community member’s experiences as valuable expertise in our goal to show love for each other through our actions. This is how we bring our vision of a better world to fruition.
