Deathcare Residency Program

This Deathcare Residency Program serves a vital purpose by challenging traditional norms surrounding deathcare. 

Our program aims to provide a unique space where individuals can explore alternative approaches to end-of-life care. Unlike mainstream models in the United States, A Sacred Passing's care is deeply rooted in principles of anti-racism, anti-capitalism, and autonomy. our innovative approach sets this learning opportunity apart in a conventional practice-dominated field.

This program enables experiential learning by offering an immersive experience within our space. Participants can witness firsthand how deathcare can be done differently, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for alternative methods. 

Cultivating a community-based deathcare practice within the current societal structures presents significant challenges. A Sacred Passing's initiative represents a bold step towards reshaping the narrative around deathcare, inviting individuals to explore and embrace a more compassionate, inclusive, and ethical approach to end-of-life care.

This residency exists as an opportunity to knit our threads of care together, to experience the fullness of community deathcare, and to be a generative space for wisdom-sharing and communal experiences.

A Sacred Passing provides a space to be curious in exploring dying and death while intertwined with the living process. It is vital to see death happen differently, and as such, imagination, rage, curiosity, reverence, humor, and presence are all essential offerings to bring to this residency.

 We are calling in people who want to deepen their knowledge of community deathcare. 

We welcome people who are open to growing their caring skills and are interested in co-creating, learning, and imagining. In general, those who choose to live in line with their values around community, respect, and collaboration are especially encouraged to apply.

The values of A Sacred Passing are lived through compassion in action and being compassionate with you in your actions. 

Education and co-creation are the intentions for this residency, and each resident will collaborate in changing this space, this community, and themselves.

 You get to choose! This Residency program is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Community Deathcare for a time period that works with your life by selecting a length of stay of one week to three months. Each resident will select the community partners included in their residency. This Choose-Your-Own-Aventure style program allows for intentional engagements for our residents with local community deathcare.
