The Abortion Doula Training is designed to help educate and support community members to better support others, specifically in accessing an abortion. This learner-centered course is an opportunity for building understanding and tools to offer consent-based care that is nonmedical and nonjudgmental, including emotional, physical, spiritual, and informational support.
As access to choice changes quickly around this country, many folx find their way to Washington State for abortions. Learn how to support folx before, during and after a medical, chemical, or herbal abortion. This curriculum is created to support any person who wants to learn more about support techniques and options available related to choice; with the intention to create a space for dialogue, relationship building, understanding, and engagement.
The facilitators will uplift choices and ways to reflect on informed-consent within care. Throughout this course, all will participate in reflection of person-to-person support, advocacy, or social engagement that is responsive to community needs surrounding abortion. While this training centers companionship for supporting an abortion, it may be helpful education context for anyone whether a person's result is birth, miscarriage, stillbirth, fetal anomaly, or abortion.
