A Sacred Passing teaches from a community-centered framework in which all persons are witnessed and seen as valuable in their inherent worth and dignity. You are invited to come as you are with an open heart and open mind. We invite all person(s) to work together to push and expand on our shared understanding of creativity, justice, and inclusive community care.
Our courses include discussion of dominant cultural norms, implicit bias, and integrating self-accountability and justice-based frameworks into companionship (doulas, death workers, community members, cultural care workers, et al) at end-of-life and in death. Please show up prepared to create agreements for our space together. ASP does connect to resources if you are learning about oppression and bias for the first time, and while these topics are foundational to our curriculum surrounding care work. Our courses do not currently cover introductory training surrounding bias, oppression, and cultural humility for individuals or groups.
All ASP courses are participatory and learner engagement is expected. Time for breaks, moments of rest, and community building are prioritized in ASP learning spaces. In developing this curriculum ASP and facilitators have taken steps to make the structure and content accessible to a variety of learning styles.
