Course Description
This course is designed to help educate and support community members to better support others, specifically in accessing an abortion. The curriculum is created to support any person who wants to learn more about support techniques and options available related to choice; with the intention to create a space for dialogue, relationship building, understanding, and engagement.
Throughout this course, we will engage in reflection of person-to-person support, advocacy, or social engagement that is responsive to community needs surrounding abortion. While this training centers companionship for supporting an abortion, it may be helpful education context for anyone whether a person's result is birth, miscarriage, stillbirth, fetal anomaly, or abortion.

Learning Intentions
The objective of this Abortion Companion Training is to increase the number of people who feel confident in their understanding of abortion procedures, abortion access, and their ability to support a person who has an abortion.
Learning Expectations
Participant Investment
This curriculum is a hybrid model. This course is delivered online, with new content delivered every week for six weeks. This course is not self-paced. Participants will be able to work through the new online content within your schedule during the week. Participants will also participate in weekly discussion groups (on Slack – or within the learning platform) with other learners. Coursework is regularly updated by facilitators and includes reading, exercises, online discussions, journaling and note-taking, watching videos or listening to audio. Depending on the person, this content may take at least 2-3 hours of dedicated time per week depending on your own learning needs, styles and reading speed.
The curriculum will be available to both individuals and community groups, please use the registration form for individuals and email for group scheduling. Course payment is offered at a sliding-scale rate. If you can pay more, please do. Our reduced-cost program depends on those who can invest at full cost. Please complete the registration form or email classes@asacredpassing.org to inquire about options.
A space will be reserved once a person's investment and payment are made in full, or cost assistance zeros the balance. Custom payment plans are available for all students, please email us and let us know what timeline would best fit your needs. Per course there are two seats available for Indigenous, Black, Brown folx who would like to take the class at no cost. If all no cost seats have been claimed you will be asked to consider another date or can request that your name is added to the waitlist.
Accessibility Details
ASP and facilitators have taken steps to make the online structure and content accessible. The course includes text, written materials, audio, and video. We will be providing closed captions, transcription, and ASL (American Sign Language) interpretation for audio/video content. We will be assessing online materials for readability with screen readers.
